The queue at the British Museum

The queue at the British Museum

If you’re visiting London I recommend popping into the British Museum. There’s an enormous collection of artefacts from around the globe that have somehow found their way in to their hallowed halls. If you do go it’s generally better to get there earlier in the day as the queues can build up quite quickly, helped by both its popularity as a destination and being free to enter.

When I visited on this particular day the crowds hadn’t quite materialised. Everything was in place to manage the line of people eager to get in to view Assyrian armour, Egyptian grave goods and South American idols. It was just the people hadn’t actually arrived yet.

Even so, this young Monk took the opportunity to stroll peacefully through the barriers and take his time admiring the outside of what is an impressive building. I couldn’t help wondering which artefacts he’d come to see.
