Both modern art and political statement

A visit to Canterbury Cathedral revealed an interesting piece of modern art. Suspended is created from items of clothing discarded by refugees and found mostly on Lesbos and from the camp at Calais. Created by Arabella Dorman, this is a rare piece of modern art for me as it’s something I could connect with.

I think it’s a stark reminder that for all the political posturing and points scoring over the refugee crisis, the rhetoric is about real people who have undertaken difficult journeys.
