The Bodmin & Wenford Railway in Cornwall keeps the spirit of the steam railway alive. It’s a great little line that runs out to Bodmin Parkway rail station, so you could catch a train from London to the edge of Bodmin, finishing your journey in steam.

If you’re down that way I heartily recommend a visit.
